A game of chess

i’ve been playing

this fabricated

game

for too long

let me throw

sew back

then blow

it all away:

the cards

at the brim of my

fingertips,

between the crack

of my lips

the deserts

of

distractions

transactions

towards

attraction.

Leaning against

offbeat possibilities,

circumstances-

I dance across

these chances

with toes

that bleed

with greed.

I play a game of chess,

where do i move my pawn

next?

I turn to the left,

eyes meet my eyes

reflection of what

I could have-

should have been

between shoulder blades

that cut like knives

it slips away,

that pretty little thing

called-

…it can’t escape my lips.

animations

played by hope

one breath away

from reality,

but now

what i am

is floating between

lost conversations

intentions

stuck at

a fork

in the road.

fish me out of this

ocean.
